The dolls and animals in Meme's Sewing Room represent the continuation of a tradition that my grandmother Meme started more than 70 years ago.
I started creating fabric dolls more than 20 years ago, and since then it has become my hobby and my favorite way to decorate for every season and occasion.
Six years ago, I transformed my hobby and passion into a purpose: to revive the childhood of our time. That's how El Costurero de Meme (Meme's Sewing Room) was born. Today, together with my team, made up of Milagros and Legna, women from the Wayuu and Kankuamo indigenous communities, respectively, we have created more than five thousand dolls, bringing more than five thousand smiles, rescuing memories and nostalgia. But above all, we have witnessed how, from grandparents to children, through a rag doll, they rediscover the simple and essential aspects of life.
My purpose, besides keeping my grandmother's memory alive and sharing it with the world, is to create high-quality dolls. That's why each doll and every detail is handcrafted from start to finish, using the finest materials to ensure these memories last for generations. In this way, everyone who acquires one of our dolls can pass on those memories, just as I pass on my grandmother's.
